With our busy schedules these days, it can be easy to get lost in the chaos and forget to notice and appreciate what’s happening around us. This can lead us to miss crucial moments that we can never get back, leading to regrets later on in life.

This is where practicing mindfulness comes in handy. Mindfulness, or having full consciousness or attention, is one of the more practical aspects of meditation.

 What Is Mindfulness?

So, what exactly is mindfulness? Mindfulness is an extension of meditation, a common practice to help one find inner peace and spiritual balance.

Both mindfulness and meditation are deeply rooted in Buddhism, whose ultimate goal is to relieve a person from the suffering they experienced on earth.

In Asian countries, practicing mindfulness is the path to achieving a state of enlightenment or “nirvana” and enjoying a more peaceful and relaxed existence.

In Western countries, it’s been integrated into psychological practices to help individuals feel more relaxed and calmer, especially those experiencing anxiety, stress, and depression.

 Benefits of Practicing Mindfulness

Aside from feeling calmer and more relaxed, there are other benefits to practicing mindfulness as well. Some examples include:

·      Improved mental and physical well-being

·      Feeling more grounded and aware of the present

·      Becoming more in touch with your emotions

·      Enhanced control over intense emotions

Overall, practicing mindfulness can improve not just your spiritual being but also your overall mental and physical health.

Living in the present can often be more complicated than it seems, especially if you’re leading a hectic schedule every day. However, as much as securing your future is important, living in the moment and appreciating life as it is can also be crucial.

Practicing mindfulness can be a practical and effective way to do so. It even offers numerous other benefits – from making you feel more grounded to improving your overall physical and mental well-being.

So, take some time out of your busy schedule to stop and appreciate your surroundings. After all, there really is no time like the present.
